4 Steps Toward Recovering Our Joy

Joy is a choice, but it's not always easy to make that choice. Life can be difficult, and hard times can steal our joy. However, true joy is not dependent on circumstances. It comes from a deeper place within us—our relationship with God. Here are four steps toward recovering our joy:

1. Recognize We've Listened to a Lie

The enemy wants us to believe lies about ourselves, God, and others. When we accept these lies, they rob us of our peace. The first step toward recovering our happiness is to recognize the lies we have believed.

2. Repent for Agreeing With and Believing Lies

Once we recognize the lies we have believed, we need to repent and ask God to forgive us for agreeing with them. This is a powerful step that frees us from the bondage of the lie.

3. Renounce and Reject the Lie

After we repent, we need to renounce and reject the lie. This means actively choosing to believe the truth instead of the lie. We can do this by meditating on God's Word and declaring it over our lives.

4. Receive From God

Finally, we need to receive from God. This means accepting His love, forgiveness, and grace. It means allowing Him to fill us with His joy and peace. When we receive from God, we can experience genuine joy that is not dependent on ourselves or worldly concerns.
